AU, Others Woo Youths To Boost COVID-19 Vaccination By 70% In Africa
August 20, 2022Nigerian singer, Chike and comedian Pencil, have been selected to boost youth engagement in championing COVID-19 vaccination across Africa by 70 percent before 2023.
The Bingwa initiative will also see public figures and social media influencers like The Pamilerin, Jenni Frank, and Imam Sobrudeen Ayinla Alkubroh, influence the increase of COVID-19 vaccination among youths.
The entertainers were carefully selected by the African Union, African CDC, and Giz in partnership with Trace TV and Mastercard.
Given his decision to jump on the train, Chike says the move by AU leads to more trust in the vaccination process and gives more credibility to the essence of getting vaccinated.
“It is always better to be safe than sorry. It is less expensive to get the vaccine, which is free than to seek treatment, which will be costly. As global COVID restrictions loosen, we see a greater need for innovation to keep COVID-19 vaccinations on the agenda,” said Chike.
